This week our nation officially closed the book on the past four years of division, cruelty and chaos as we begin the process of healing under President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. Americans overwhelmingly voted in favor of decency and respect and because of that, I have a tremendous amount of hope for our country in spite of the great challenges that we face. I am comforted to know that we now have a leader with the empathy and experience to overcome the damage that has been done by the previous administration, in addition to ensuring that the COVID-19 crisis is brought to an end. On behalf of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, I offer my heartfelt congratulations and full support to President Biden and Vice President Harris. 

This week New Jersey passed a major milestone in its vaccine distribution program, with over 500,000 residents now having received doses. Governor Murphy and his team are continuing to expand the state’s vaccine distribution infrastructure, with all six of the state’s mega-sites now open for vaccine appointments.

Among the many executive actions President Joe Biden took immediately upon beginning his term in office, implementing a national strategy to handle the COVID-19 pandemic is among the most critical. This week the President announced that he will utilize the Defense Production Act to immediately increase production of vaccines, syringes, PPE and other critical materials. This decisive action will be essential to increasing vaccine supply here in New Jersey and throughout the country.
