GOOD NEWS

John,

We’re less than one month into 2021 and we’ve already reached a historic landmark in the global fight against tobacco:

All of South America is now smoke-free.

With the addition of Paraguay, the citizens of all South American countries – around 430 million people – are now protected by laws requiring smoke-free public places and workplaces!

Just a few years ago, the thought of the South American continent going smoke-free seemed like an unattainable goal. But today, as a result of courageous political leaders and the unrelenting work of civil society organizations coming together to stand up for public health, it is now a reality.

Our global team at the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids has supported these efforts across South America, and we are working hard to make sure the rest of the world follows South America’s strong example – so that one day soon, the citizens of every country are protected from deadly secondhand smoke.

We continue to make tremendous progress, but there is still so much left to do. Everyone deserves the right to breathe clean air.

Will you join us in the fight to make the world smoke-free?

Comprehensive smoke-free laws have proven to be popular with the public and quickly improve health. Your donation will fuel our fight – and save lives around the world.

Thank you for championing the mission.
