This week, our country broke a glass ceiling and made history.

Arizona voted blue for the first time in a generation -- due in great part to many people who worked for years to get to this week's result.

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris took their oaths and will usher in a new, more hopeful chapter in our nation's history. I have spoken with several Phoenix residents who don't share a political philosophy with the Biden administration but who understand that their success is success for our country at a vital time.

We have already begun to communicate regularly with the new administration. Cities including Phoenix will have a partner at the federal level to reach every part of our city.

I look forward to working with the Biden-Harris team to address the issues our city faces and find the most effective ways Phoenix can emerge from the pandemic.

I am ready to do my part, and I hope you are too.

Now let's get to work,
