First "No fault/No Contest," Now "no wait" - NO WAY.
Our Wisconsin legislature is fast-tracking a bill we believe is harmful to minor children, the individuals comprising a marriage and the institution of marriage in general. Wisconsin currently has a six-month (6-month) waiting period after a divorce is finalized before a person can remarry. Assembly Bill 439 and its senate companion, Senate Bill 398, would completely remove this waiting period for any divorced individual in our state, regardless of whether or not minor children are involved. The bill was introduced on September 12 and public hearings in both the Assembly and the Senate were held earlier this week.
Wisconsin has the worst combination of divorce laws in the country with our “no-fault,” “no-contest” provisions. Basically, anyone can walk away from a marriage for any or no reason. Rather than strengthening the institution of marriage, this proposed legislation to do away completely with a waiting period following a divorce before remarrying, sets the individuals up for yet another marriage failure, which hurts individuals and further erodes the institution of marriage. When minor children are involved, their well being should be the top priority.
WFA president Julaine Appling testified against the bills in both the Assembly and Senate hearings this past Tuesday and Wednesday. WisEye recorded the Senate hearing. When/If that becomes available, we will share it. WFA was the only organization to speak against the bills. In the Assembly hearing, numerous people spoke in favor of the bill. Wisconsin Fathers for Children and Families also registered against the bill. In the Senate hearing, only the author, Sen. Alberta Darling and a representative from the Assembly's author (Cindi Duchow) spoke in favor of it. It was again very obvious these bills are being fast-tracked for passage in early or mid October.

Assisted Suicide Revived AGAIN in Wisconsin
It's not the first time.
Wisconsin lawmakers have introduced legislation that gives terminally ill patients the option to have doctors help them end their lives. The first time this was tried in The Badger State was 1993.
The so-called End-of-Life Options Act (LRB 1624-1) would allow "mentally capable, terminally ill adults with less than six months" to live the ability to end their own lives.

This bill is an example of the tenacity of those pushing a liberal agenda. It’s also a reminder of what kind of legislation would become law if the liberals were in the majority in our state legislature. Assisted suicide is wrong. It’s not compassionate. When physicians are involved, it’s a breach of their ethical code. It sends a message that some lives are not worth living. It’s a slippery slope with full-fledged euthanasia at the bottom.
Video: Do No Harm: The Peril of Physician-Assisted Suicide provides valuable information on why physician-assisted suicide isn’t just bad policy, but bad for humanity. Congressman Brad Wenstrup’s (R-OH) extensive medical background and personal experience with cancer in his own family gives him unique insight into why this policy is detrimental to society by way of its devaluing of human life. US Abortion Rate Lowest Since Roe v Wade
Still Not Enough
From LiveAction: "According to a new report published by the Guttmacher Institute, abortion numbers dropped nationally by seven percent from 2014 to 2017, from 926,200 in 2014 to 862,320 in 2017. Guttmacher, Planned Parenthood’s former “special affiliate,” which publishes more comprehensive abortion numbers than the Centers for Disease Control, says the abortion rate has also dropped 8% (from 14.6 per 1,000 in 2014 to 13.5 abortions per 1,000 women aged 15–44 in 2017), to its lowest level since the Roe v. Wade decision legalized abortion in all 50 states in 1973.
“'Since the early 1980s, there has been a significant increase in the percentage of unintended pregnancies being carried to term, This shows that pro-life efforts to change hearts and minds, assist pregnant women, and pass protective laws, are all playing a key role in the long-term decline in the U.S abortion rate,' Dr. Michael J. New, Associate Scholar at the Charlotte Lozier Institute."

While we celebrate every baby saved from abortion, and we are certainly glad abortion numbers are going down, the tragic reality is that nearly 2400 babies a day lose their lives to abortion in our country. Wisconsin accounts for 16 of those babies each day. Abortion needs to end; not just slow down. We must continue to do everything we can to stop this life-taking atrocity.

A Victory for EVERYONE
Two Christians who faced being fined if they declined to create same-sex wedding invitations have won their legal case.
Joanna Duka and Breanna Koski run Brush & Nib Studio, a stationery business that makes invitations for weddings and other events. With our allies Alliance Defending Freedom representing them, they challenged a Phoenix non-discrimination law and this week the Arizona Supreme Court ruled in their favor, saying freedom of speech is not limited to the home or church.

Julaine Appling, WFA president, said, "This judicial win reminds me of a Wisconsin case from a couple of years ago when a Madison Christian photographer challenged Madison’s and Wisconsin’s public accommodation laws and won in a Madison district court. These free speech cases are so important. I’m thankful for Christians who will challenge these laws and for legal coalitions like Alliance Defending Freedom who take these cases."
This week in a speech to the United Nations, President Trump said, "“Our nation was founded on the idea that our rights do not come from government, but from God.. Regrettably, the freedom enjoyed in America is rare in the world.” Read more HERE.
