That's The New York Times quoting 43-year-old Daniel Scheerer, a Colorado truck driver.
With all the recent events going on, Scheerer is now an engaged politico! But he doesn't get his news from Rachel Maddow; he has other sources. Some of Scheerer's views? “He said he did not condone those who were violent but believed that the news media had ‘totally skewed' the event, obscuring what he saw as the real story of the day -- the people's protest against election fraud.”
There are a lot of people like Scheerer in this country. They're totalitarians who don't want to admit it. The good news is that there are more of us than there are of them -- and that we can work to dismantle the institutional systems of misinformation and hatemongering that have got so many of our neighbors off of football and on to much darker hobbies.
