NEWS TO WATCH

During his first day in office, President Biden signed an executive order protecting LGBTQ people from discrimination in many fields. This, naturally, has upset anti-trans bigots who dislike equal rights.

In another show of support for the trans community, Biden has selected Harvard-educated Dr. Rachel Levine as Assistant Secretary of Health, once again angering anti-trans bigots. Once confirmed, Dr. Levine will be the first out trans appointee confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

Vice News is tracking new bills targeting trans youth and healthcare access. Learn more here.

To end on a piece of good news: Indiana’s first out LGBTQ state legislator, J.D. Ford, has introduced a bill banning conversation therapy. We hope Mike Pence is in town to read it.
