John,
On behalf of our Federal Affairs team, I’m happy that you’re interested in The Trust for Public Land, and I invite you to become a member with a gift today. As 2021 begins, we are eager to begin work to reclaim, repair, and restore America’s natural landscapes for people, and new members are an important part of our plans.
With a new President in the White House, a new Congress in session, and new leadership in the U.S. Senate, now is the time to stand up and demand that public lands should be at the top of their agenda. Your membership gift today will help us show the Biden administration that you want to protect our nation’s special outdoor spaces, by:
- Restoring Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments, which were dramatically slashed by Executive Order three years ago, putting millions of acres of iconic public lands on the auction block — ready to be sold to the highest bidder to be drilled and mined for short-term profits.
- Funding urgent conservation projects to help us safeguard the parks, trails, and landscapes that have become even more critical during the pandemic.
- Ensuring the Biden administration implements the Land and Water Conservation Fund as Congress intended, and in turn, protect the future of our nation’s wildlands, water, and cultural heritage.
- Obtaining emergency funding for local outdoor spaces to help the millions of people across the country for whom it is difficult or even impossible to find a safe, beautiful space to get outside, even in the winter.
- Using infrastructure spending to fight climate change with projects that will reduce greenhouse gases such as building water-smart parks that absorb storm water and reduce flooding, protecting forests that capture and store atmospheric carbon, or developing bike trails that make it easier for commuters to ditch the car.
John, your membership is critical. I urge you to take this opportunity to help our team mobilize support for critical parks and public land policies for the benefit of all Americans … while advancing all the conservation work of The Trust for Public Land.
Sincerely,
Jordan Schreiber
Director of Advocacy
The Trust for Public Land
P.S. I hope you will make 2021 the year you join us to stand up for America’s parks and public lands.
