We're Partnering with Netflix on "American Son"
To facilitate a broader conversation about race, racism, and the criminal legal system in this country, we created Raising American Son: A Discussion Guide as a component to the “American Son” Netflix television event, which premieres on Nov. 1. Earlier this month, the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) screened the film, and each audience member received our discussion guide. We will be partnering with Netflix’s American Son television event in the coming month to lead conversations for selected screenings around the country. Learn more! |

On Sept. 19, the Community Advisory Group for the New Orleans Safety and Justice Challenge hosted our communications training at Loyola University's College of Law with six local organizations. And this week, we’re convening advocates in New Orleans again to discuss shifting the narrative on criminal justice. |

Let's Talk About Climate Change & Economic Opportunity
Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II and Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis, co-chairs of the Poor People's Campaign, wrote in Newsweek last week about the connection between climate change, poverty, and racism. They discuss the possibilty of "climate apartheid," where the rich pay to avoid the effects of the crisis while the poor are left to suffer. “We are seeing these manifestations here in the United States already,” they write. Also check out our photos from the New York Climate Strike last week. |
