** Covid-19: guidance for youth services
------------------------------------------------------------
Explicit reference to youth work as an essential service ([link removed]) has now been included in the most recent set of Covid-related Regulations.

We continue to work with the officials in the department to revise the guidance in response to any new restrictions and will continue to update the Guidance for Youth Organisations on Resuming Full Services ([link removed]) .

We will also update the official DCEDIY/NYCI Covid Induction for Youth Services ([link removed]) to reflect any changes.

Climate justice challenge inspires Girl Guides to create a better world
------------------------------------------------------------

Members of Irish Girl Guides (IGG) found taking part in ECO-UNESCO’S Youth Climate Justice initiative a rewarding experience, which inspired them to create a better world. Units in Galway, Tipperary, and Dublin initiated climate action projects in their local communities, with Galway City Senior Branch spearheading a campaign on their Instagram page (@galwaycityseniorbranch) by creating awareness around the environmental impact of fast fashion. Expressions of interest for membership of Gaisce Council

The Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth is inviting expressions of interest for membership of the Gaisce Council ([link removed] ) . Gaisce – The President’s Award is a self-development programme for young people which is proven to enhance confidence and wellbeing through participation in personal, physical, community and team challenges. The Ministerinvites applications from suitably qualified candidates ([link removed]) with legal expertise for an immediate vacancy on the Council.

Join Youth Work Ireland and the European Confederation of Youth Clubs for an online panel discussion on January 22 on the evolving situation regarding sexual and reproductive education in Europe and the role of youth work. Register here >> ([link removed])



** Live Out Loud

Foróige is coordinating a national campaign celebrating LGBTI+ youth to show that they are visible, they are valued, amd they are included in culture, society, and sport. There is an open call for video, image, and text submissions that will be promoted on social media to amplify the voices of those influencing, educating, and inspiring every sector of society for LGBTI+ young people. Opportunity for students: Open call for the 4th ASEF Young Leaders Summit
------------------------------------------------------------

The Education Department of the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) welcomes students & young people, aged 18 and above, to apply for this fully-funded non-formal learning programme that connects youth with community leaders, subject experts, and political leaders. ** This is Art! RTÉ launches online art competition

The competition invites under-18s of all abilities to create a piece of visual art that will be showcased in an online art gallery for generations to come. It's open to groups and individuals and the closing date is January 31. More here >> ([link removed])



** Charlemagne Youth Prize
------------------------------------------------------------
The European Parliament, in collaboration with the Foundation of the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen, invites young people from all EU Member States to submit projects run by and for youth that illustrate an active participation in the development of Europe. The Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission has launched a new anti-racism campaign that aims to challenge the individual and societal attitudes that lead to people from different ethnic backgrounds experiencing racism.
