Washington Post: President Joe Biden “will roll out a sweeping overhaul of the nation's immigration laws… including an eight-year pathway to citizenship for immigrants without legal status and an expansion of refugee admissions, along with an enforcement plan that deploys technology to patrol the border.”
Trump treated immigrants as less than human. Millions of DREAMers, brought to America as children, were in legal limbo -- torn between a country where they're not “legal” and a “home” they never knew.
Ready for some great news? Per the Washington Post, DREAMers “could apply for a green card immediately” under Biden's new guidance.
One last warning from the Post, though: “The Biden effort would mark the most substantial attempt at a comprehensive immigration overhaul since the Senate passed legislation in 2013, only to have it collapse in the House, then controlled by Republicans, the following year.”
We can't let history repeat itself. Let's fix this now -- get kids out of cages, DREAMers out of limbo, and get compassion back into our national character.
