The violent insurrection on January 6th at the U.S. Capitol was a dark day for our country and our democracy. We must not simply turn the page and move on from what happened -- there must be accountability.
That’s why Ayanna was the first member of Congress to call for an investigation into how the rioters were able to gain entry to the Capitol building so easily and what role law enforcement and other members may have played in assisting the insurrectionists.
Ayanna is proud to co-sponsor Jamaal Bowman’s legislation, the COUP Act, which will create a special commission to investigate the security failures that occurred, including law enforcement misconduct, on Capitol Hill on January 6th.
