Dear friends—
We continue to celebrate yesterday’s historic inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President of the United States. For the first time, a Black and Asian American woman will be among the most powerful people in our country, and we celebrate the generations of work that brought us this moment.
While we celebrate this victory, we are reminded everyday about the ongoing epidemic of gun violence. Every year over 100,000 Americans are shot or killed by gun violence and this major crisis overwhelmingly impacts communities of color at a higher rate.
This is why we are calling on President Biden and Vice President Harris to prioritize comprehensive solutions to end gun violence in communities of color starting with these priorities in the first 100 days:
Join us in calling on direct action by the Biden Harris Administration today by signing here.
Gun violence is no longer a political issue, it has become literally life or death for too many people of color in this country. We look forward to working with this Administration and all of you to create transformative change for our communities.
In solidarity,
Greg Jackson
