Friend,

A new chapter in American history has begun.

Yesterday, Joe Biden became the 46th president of the United States and Kamala Harris made history as the first woman, woman of color, and daughter of immigrants to become vice president.

After the last four turbulent years of the Trump Administration, we are happy to turn the page and celebrate this historic moment.

President Biden has committed to undoing the Trump Administration's cruel and inhumane immigration policies and has made immigration a top legislative priority.

On his first day in office, President Biden signed a number of immigration-related executive orders and proposed a sweeping immigration bill to create a new roadmap to citizenship for the 11 million undocumented immigrants settled in America. The executive orders end the Muslim Ban, reinstate DACA, pause deportations for 100 days to reset priorities, reverses Trump's plan to exclude undocumented immigrants from the Census, extends relief for a small group of Liberians living in the U.S. with Deferred Enforced Departure (DED), takes steps to start ending the horrific "Remain in Mexico" (MPP) program for asylum seekers, and stops all construction of the border wall.

The immigration bill provides a pathway to citizenship for all undocumented immigrants in America, including DACA recipients and other Dreamers, those with Temporary Protected Status (TPS), farm workers, essential workers, parents and more. The bill would also reduce visa backlogs, improve border technology, provide funding to help Central American countries reduce migration pressures, and more.

This moment is transformational.

Millions of immigrants make countless contributions to our country. During the COVID-19 pandemic this has become more clear than ever as undocumented immigrants risk their lives every day in essential jobs to keep the country open. It is a moral imperative to recognize them for everything that they do and put them on the road to citizenship.

America's Voice is ready. We look forward to working with President Biden, Vice President Harris, and the U.S. Congress to turn this dramatic start into changed lives.

Stay tuned for updates, more information, and ways you can continue to help us make this a reality.

Onward,
Juana ----
