New School Tools From CDC
For a Healthy New Year
CDC recently released toolkits for school personnel to use to consider and implement COVID-19 mitigation strategies in their K-12 schools. This course summarizes current COVID-19 data and statistics, reviews existing COVID-19 tools and resources, and describes tools that can be used to guide K-12 school personnel to reduce the risk of COVID-19 as in-person classes resume.

However, these recommendations include gaps in both the comprehensiveness and specificity of guidance with respect to how schools should support the whole child during the pandemic.

Bystander Intervention - Online Abuse

As more of our personal and professional lives go digital, online hate and harassment are on the rise. Each and every one of us can be an ally. Participants will receive the tools they need to intervene safely and effectively in online abuse using Hollaback!’s 5D’s of bystander intervention. Learning objectives include: understanding what online harassment is and how to identify abusive tactics; the impact online abuse can have; and concrete strategies for how to distract, delegate, document, delay, or directly intervene in a way that is safe, effective, and centered on the needs of the person being targeted.
