Strength and Resilience in Unprecedented Times
2020 Year in Review We are excited to share our Start Early 2020 Year In Review report, which showcases the incredible work achieved throughout our last fiscal year. The last half of the year proved to be challenging and uncertain–yet, the unyielding resilience of families and the early learning and care field during a devastating global pandemic has been inspiring. |

Opportunities to Boldly Lead on Early Education at the Federal Level Many issues in our early education system have been overlooked for decades, only to be accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. There has never been a better — or more critical time — for a federal administration to boldly lead on early childhood. We outline a few opportunities the new administration and next U.S. Secretary of Education have to revise and improve programs, policies and funding streams managed by the U.S. Education Department that impact the children and families we serve. |

Diana's Story
Diana is a new mom who was pregnant during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. She faced the uncertainty of giving birth during a global pandemic while living in a new country with limited resources. Diana was feeling scared and unsure what to do next. Luckily, Diana’s prenatal clinic connected her with a Start Early doula who was able to be there with her every step of the way along her pregnancy journey. Diana said of her doula "she was my main support over the past year. She taught me how to advocate for myself and my child." Now 6-months old, her son Mateo is almost crawling and sitting up by himself, and Diana has enjoyed watching him grow. “He’s really strong,” she says. “I’m just amazed with him. It’s fun to see him
growing.” |
