Dear Friend,
Homelessness “is disgraceful.” As an advocate who has spent more than three decades working to end homelessness, I couldn’t agree more with President Trump’s recent statement. But his administration’s newly-introduced white paper to combat homelessness blindly ignores evidence-based consensus on Housing First solutions, and we will not stand idly by.
We hope the Administration will not adopt a “crack down” approach, but if plans sacrifice the Constitutional rights of our unhoused neighbors, we stand ready, as we have before, to protect them in court.
As we prepare for possible action from Federal Agencies, and as we continue to challenge harmful and erroneous rhetoric, you can help.
Without the generous support of our donors, funders, and pro bono partners, we could not continue our fight for a world where no one has to go without the basics of human survival. We hope you will join this fight and ensure that the counterproductive, inhumane, and possibly unconstitutional treatment of our unhoused neighbors is not tolerated.
Warmly,
Maria Foscarinis
