Dear NRDC Activist,

Joe Biden is wasting no time making good on his commitment to bold climate action. On day one in office, his administration rejoined the Paris climate accord, halted efforts to pursue drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, terminated permits for the Keystone XL tar sands oil pipeline, restored protections for national monuments, and more!

These swift and decisive victories mark a monumental shift in our fight against the climate crisis and make clear that the United States is once more part of the global climate solution — not the problem.

While there is so much more work to be done, it is a tremendous start. Yet, some of the largest and dirtiest companies on the planet and their allies are already lobbying hard to derail the new administration's ambitious climate agenda.

The momentum is on our side, and we must fight back NOW to ensure the president continues to fulfill his promises. Will you join this urgent fight by becoming a Monthly Partner today? Your first three monthly gifts will be MATCHED $1-for-$1, up to $330,000, doubling your impact during the critical first 100 days of the Biden-Harris administration.

President Biden is also addressing racial justice head-on, directing every government agency to center racial justice and equity in the work they do. This move puts environmental justice where it belongs — at the heart of the progress we need to make.

To address the global climate crisis, we must break free from our dependence on dangerous and deadly fossil fuels. It's just that simple.

For decades, the fossil fuel industry has received countless giveaways from the federal government. In the past four years, they have profited from Trump's illegal rulemaking. The Biden-Harris administration can recover the ground lost by the Trump administration, and gain new ground. In fact, it is already hard at work restoring many of the bedrock environmental safeguards gutted over the last four years.

But , we must make sure President Biden stays the course and never lets up. We have to let him know we're counting on his administration to take action on the following top climate change priorities for his first 100 days in office, including:

  • Canceling all of Trump’s drilling leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and working with Congress to permanently protect it from future fossil fuel development
  • Halting new leasing for dangerous offshore drilling
  • Issuing a moratorium on fossil fuel development on federal wildlands
  • Working to protect at least 30 percent of U.S. land and sea by 2030
  • Expanding investments in electric vehicles (Biden has already rescinded Trump's clean car rollbacks!)

Your support is crucial as we combat the fossil fuel industry's attempts to keep the U.S. tethered to climate-wrecking coal, oil, and fracked gas. So crucial, in fact, that the daughter of NRDC Founding President John Adams, Kate Adams, her husband Duke Wiser, and their family will match your first three monthly gifts dollar for dollar until February 1 (up to a total of $330,000).

That means your monthly donations will go twice as far in the months ahead as NRDC rolls out our 2021 Action Plan. Please, become a Monthly Partner today.

Better days are ahead of us — but we have a lot of work to do over these crucial next few months. I'm grateful for the support of NRDC allies like you who will join us in the urgent fight for a clean energy future.

Sincerely,
Mitch
