Position Description:The Divestment Campaigner (DC) will work with the IEN Keep It In The Ground campaign team, relevant IEN staff, Indigenous communities, and international and local partners to identify opportunities and develop and implement strategic finance campaigns across Turtle Island to shift investments & insurance support away from fossil fuels.
The ideal candidate will be an energy finance expert with a keen interest in decarbonization and/or a person with substantial experience in managing and coordinating grassroots campaigns connected to divestment advocacy. They will be strategic thinkers with the ability to make linkages between finance and insurance developments and IEN’s ongoing campaigns and new campaign opportunities based on its Theory of Change. They will have strong analytical skills as well as the ability to package often complex financial information for wider social reach. 
IEN’s current finance divestment program is targeting the following sectors:
Corporate finance Insurance coverageAsset ManagementThe position is a full-time salaried position. This position will be remote-based. All new employees are subject to a 90-day probationary period, whereupon completion of an evaluation will be conducted. Full employment status officially begins upon completion of this probationary period and full benefits will be set up at that time as well. 
Major Requirements The Divestment Campaigner position may require the ability for frequent travel. (Dependent on the circumstances and risks associated with the Coronavirus) It will require personal knowledge and experience regarding working with and in Indigenous communities. You will be required to attend a 2-3 day virtual orientation to take place within the first month of hiring. 
The Divestment Campaigner will:
Be supervised by the Keep it in the Ground Campaigner, and designated Leadership Team memberGradually take lead on the financial side of ongoing campaigns and projects and will work to bring a finance focus to existing and future campaigns and projects to transition away from fossil fuels.Work with partners to expand finance and insurance campaign opportunitiesConduct desktop and on the ground research for finance and insurance campaigns;Coordinate with national and global finance partners to keep abreast of new developments and opportunities; integrate those to IEN campaigns and provide the IEN crew with content.Contribute to the organization of training and popular education materials for Indigenous nations and communities regarding finance and insurance;Work with IEN affiliated member and partners to create replicable finance campaign models;Create a list of resources, guidelines and templates for targeting finance institutions;Generate an annual report regarding the divestment campaign and create a list of follow up actions and subsequent strategy;Support the IEN staff and media team in crafting infographics, social media, and other digital content to share campaign updates, stories and otherwise support our finance campaigns;Participate in and facilitate workshops or trainings with partners and volunteers to strengthen our finance campaigns;Occasionally represent the Indigenous Environmental Network in the media;Candidate QualificationsMust have personal knowledge and experience working with and in Indigenous communities; In depth energy finance knowledge and financial analysis skills,Strong communication skills to repack complex financial information for wider access.Experience or interest in campaign development and excellent problem-solving skills with a positive attitudeKnowledge of and interest in Indigenous energy and climate issuesAbility to multitask and monitor several projects on a daily basisAbility to work well under pressure and manage time effectivelyAbility to take initiative to develop new strategies and outside-the-box ideas for social mediaAbility to work independently or in a teamAbility to travel via airplane, bus, train, vehicle and other modes of transportationMust have access to internet and phone services  Salary:A minimum annual salary of $55,000 with a competitive benefit package .
