Friends, today we are celebrating our POWER! Because of our work on the ground in Iowa during the primaries, late last night, on the first day of his Presidency, Biden signed an executive action placing a moratorium on deportations for 100 days!
There is no denying it: this is our win — and it’s because of our team and our movement that he’s put forth the most progressive immigration framework bill ever.
I hope you will join me in a moment of reflection and gratitude for the hard work that got us here today. I’ve seen firsthand what wins like these ask of people! I was on the ground earlier last year in Iowa, where ahead of a Democratic debate, our team of immigrant youth and families (and a mariachi band!!!) withstood freezing temperatures to demand that then-presidential nominee, Joe Biden, make a commitment to issuing a moratorium on deportations.
To think that that cold night in January would lead to this bright new morning a year later is nothing short of incredible.
I want to be clear, though: we have much more work to do. Immigrants are still in desperate need of inclusive COVID-19 relief that doesn’t discriminate based on immigration status. We demand the defunding of ICE, CBP, police, and the collaboration between these groups that fuel the deportation machine. We need permanent protections for our people.
Please, make a contribution of any amount to United We Dream Action right now to make it clear that you’re in it with us for the long haul. Your gift today means we’ll have the resources we need to get these and so many more protections for our people put into place before even more harm is done. Can we count on you?

Thank you, so much, for all you’ve done as a critical member of this movement. I’m so proud to call you my teammate in this fight. We have shown time and again that as long as we believe in ourselves and double down on the hard work we know makes a difference, we are unstoppable.
Onward we go, shoulder-to-shoulder, towards a brighter future for us all.
