If you believe, as I do, that Britain is a country in desperate need of reform then I need your help in bringing about that change.

In May, we’re hoping that elections will take place around the UK, though we can’t be certain. It’s a national disgrace that democracy is at risk of being sidelined for a second year running; at a time when governments and councils have unprecedented control over where we can go and what we can do, they must be held accountable at the ballot box. 

Our democracy is in real jeopardy here and it’s our responsibility to do something about it.

Assuming they go ahead, Local Elections this May will see thousands of County, City, District and Borough Councillors elected to chambers across Britain, many of which have become stagnant and stale after decades of control by the same old parties. Alongside those, Metro Mayor elections will take place in Cambridge and Peterborough, Greater Manchester, Liverpool, Tees Valley, the West Midlands, the West of England and West Yorkshire.

Devolved elections in the Parliaments of Scotland and Wales will give parties the opportunity to get candidates elected via a positive, PR voting system. For too many years there has been no real opposition to the Labour Party in Wales or the SNP in Scotland, despite the clear incompetence and failings of both.

Finally, Police and Crime Commissioner candidates will have an opportunity to put forward a fresh approach to policing in our country; something which has seriously lost its way over the last decade.

The one thing that these elections have in common is the extent to which all of the institutions need serious reform and this is your chance to play your part.

Over the last two months, thousands of our supporters have registered their interest in standing for Reform UK this year. Many have already completed and submitted application forms and we’ve started to allocate candidates into areas as a result. Now is the time for you to do the same.

We’ve spent a great deal of time making sure that we have the right support network and campaign structure in place to give our candidates every opportunity of getting elected. Though campaigning in the current climate may look a little different to previous elections, we know we’ve got the skills and experience to deliver our collective message to voters around the country in a safe way.
