Friend,

Overview (an 8-second scan):

• This isn't about party; it's about principle
• Dean swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution
• The NRCC is already attacking Dean and rallying around the president
• Will you stand with Dean -- and our Constitution -- today?

Read the full story (a 40-second read):

When Dean announced his support for a formal impeachment inquiry into Donald Trump's request that a foreign leader investigate one of Trump's leading political rivals, he did so based on principle and out of respect for the oath he took when he was sworn into office -- to protect and defend the Constitution. He would've done the same regardless of the president's political party.

Meanwhile, the NRCC and other outside special interest groups are rallying around the president, defending his indefensible actions and predicting that Dean's principled position will cost him his election -- and cost House Democrats the majority.

You helped Dean flip a seat for the first time in 60 years, in no small part to provide a check on this president. If we lose this seat -- and the majority -- next year, we may return to one-party rule in Washington, led by an unrestricted and unaccountable president. That cannot happen.

We are asking you to stand with Dean today. Make a contribution of any amount, and show Dean -- and those seeking to defeat him -- that we've got his back.

Taking a courageous stand when the times demand it was not a political decision for Dean. This has never been about politics for him. But well-financed special interests who employ a win-at-all-costs mentality are already circling the wagons, preparing to spend massive sums to defeat Dean and others like him in swing districts around the country.

If we don't show our support now, it will only embolden those forces -- and make it even harder for future officials to do the right thing.

Dean heard your calls to action and he responded. Will you respond to our call to action today, and let him know you're with him?

It is hard to know what the coming weeks and months will bring, but one thing is certain: we are better off with Dean in Congress and Democrats in the House majority. Let's keep it that way.

Sincerely,

Jonah Van Why

P.S. If you've been waiting to sign up to volunteer, please do so today! We can take nothing for granted in a seat that Democrats hadn't held for 60 years.
