Call on Johns Hopkins University to Hold Teachers’ Assistant Accountable for Anti-Semitism

Dear friend of EMET,

We encourage you to join Combat Anti-Semitism and call on the administration of Johns Hopkins University to take swift action in response to anti-Semitic tweets by one of its teachers’ assistants.

This November, TA Rasha Anayah at Johns Hopkins University, wrote a series of tweets where she threatened to fail pro-Israel students solely on the basis of their identity. In one glaringly anti-Semitic tweet Anayah wrote:
“Ethical dilemma: if you have to grade a Zionist student exam, do you still give them all their points even though they support your ethnic cleansing? Like idk.”

We encourage you to join the Combat Anti-Semitism Movement and the Baltimore Zionist District and call on the administration of Johns Hopkins University to take swift action in response to anti-Semitic tweets by one of its teachers’ assistants.

We find it unacceptable and unlawful that such blatant discrimination based on a student's belief, identity, or national origin could occur by someone employed by Johns Hopkins University. Numerous calls have already been made to the administration of JHU by Jewish groups demanding accountability for Anayah.

It is alarming that a teaching assistant at a major university expressed a clear attempt to penalize students on the basis of their race, Jewish identity, or national origin. Rasha Anayah’s actions are just the latest instance showing that college and university campuses have become a major outlet for the targeting of Jews under the guise of academic freedom and student activism.
