The average amount spent by winning mayoral candidates in Virginia last fall ranged from $1.1 million in Richmond to $32,000 in Suffolk.

This visual takes a look at the varied costs ([link removed]) of city council, mayoral and school board elections in Virginia. (The numbers exclude some small cities where not all winning candidates e-filed campaign finance reports with the state Department of Elections.)
