John,
I think we can all agree: Trump was a terrible president. But if there’s a bright spot from the last four years, it’s this: during Trump’s tenure, more LGBTQ people stepped up to run for office than ever before – and won their campaigns in record numbers!
While it’s amazing to see a pro-equality administration in the White House, we still need over 22,000 LGBTQ people to be elected before we achieve equal representation in government. We need LGBTQ voices who can block hateful bathroom bills at the state level, help prioritize LGBTQ healthcare at the local level and stand against bigots in the United States Congress. From the White House to the governorships to school board seats, we need LGBTQ people like you to run for office!
Are you an LGBTQ person looking to learn more about running or know an amazing LGBTQ advocate who should be in public office? Learn more about Victory Institute’s virtual and in-person (fingers crossed!) Candidate & Campaign Trainings today!
Virtual Training: February 18-20, 2021
Virtual Training: April 8-10, 2021
In-person Boston, MA*: July 29-August 1, 2021
In-person San Diego, CA*: October 14-17, 2021
*At this time, we plan to host the Boston and San Diego trainings in-person, but due to COVID-19, the in-person events may be subject to change and hosted virtually.
Our virtual Candidate & Campaign Training provides comprehensive, non-partisan training to present and future LGBTQ candidates, campaign staff and community leaders. Participants will learn the necessary skills and strategies by engaging in tough, realistic campaign situations, and hearing from our campaign experts.
Victory Institute has trained thousands of out LGBTQ people on how to build winning campaigns -- including Colorado Governor Jared Polis, Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia, California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara, Colorado Representative Leslie Herod and Virginia Delegate Danica Roem!
Trump’s presidency proved LGBTQ elected officials are our ticket for moving equality forward. But we need more of them. Learn more about our trainings here or encourage the out leaders in your life to apply!
Thanks again,
Sarah Pope
