The For the People Act (H.R. 1) is a democracy reform bill that would provide much-needed action on redistricting, ethics, campaign finance, and voting rights.
Last year, this grassroots movement contacted their senators to advocate for a previous version of this bill. Despite public support, Mitch McConnell refused to even put it up for a vote. But now McConnell is no longer the Senate majority leader. And there may be enough pro-democracy senators in Washington to pass this bill into law -- but it could come down to every last vote.

This legislation is long overdue. The House first passed a version of this bill two years ago. And while McConnell's Senate sat on its hands, voters experienced barriers to casting their ballots in the 2020 elections.
We now have a chance to change the rules of the road and clean up our political system -- we'll no longer have to play defense with protecting our democracy.
