During this historic and hopeful moment for America, I wanted to take a minute to check in with you and say thank you.
Through the trials and challenges of the last four years — and especially the last year — you have stayed engaged and never stopped believing in the best that America could be.
Now, President Biden and Vice President Harris have officially been sworn in and the real work undoing the damage of the past four years — and moving forward — can begin.
I’m particularly happy today because my former AG colleague Kamala Harris has made history as the first woman to serve as Vice President of the United States — shattering the glass ceiling forever! In addition, she is the first Black and the first South Asian VP. It was stunningly moving to see her take her oath--administered by our first Latina Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.
I’m proud that our country stood strong — and I believe we will all be even more appreciative of our precious — at times fragile — democracy going forward.
Again, I’m thankful to all of you. You marched, you protested, you volunteered, you donated, and most importantly, you made your voices heard. In doing so, you helped make the Biden-Harris administration a reality.
Let's celebrate!
Ellen
