Dearest friends,

This morning, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris took their oaths of office and were sworn in as our new President and Vice President. Today is a cause for celebration, hopefulness, and above all, unity.

We have a lot of work to do to heal our nation from both recent and centuries-old wounds -- but with President Biden and Vice President Harris in office, we have our best chance in years to make real, positive change. As President Biden said in his speech, "It’s time for boldness, for there is so much to do."

I have the utmost faith in the two -- Joe Biden has the experience to lead our nation into recovery and Kamala Harris has the tenacity to push us forward. She alone has already made history as the first Black, South Asian woman to be elected Vice President -- and I am so proud to have been able to witness one of my sisters in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. be sworn in.

I’m honored to work in tandem with them as I begin my sixth term in Congress. I’m ready to help them both get America back on track, from tackling COVID-19 and the economic fallout, to unifying our country amidst growing divisions.

We've been through a lot in the last four years -- but your work and support over this campaign season has made today’s historic inauguration possible, and I am so grateful.
