Dear Friend,
We are living in a moment of transformative change.
Our nation is facing unprecedented crises that threaten our health, our economy, and our democracy — but today brings hope. It holds the promise that we can make common cause to turn the tide and continue our work to create a healthier and more just world for everyone.
Today, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were sworn into office. The new administration is tasked with sifting through the ashes left by intersecting disasters of the climate crisis, the ongoing global pandemic, and rampant inequality.
Now is an opportunity to repair and rebuild — leaving no one behind. On Day One, President Biden and Vice President Harris are getting straight to work with a stellar team to provide relief to hurting Americans, while launching an all-of-government initiative on climate and systemic racism and injustice.
We commend the President’s immediate commitment to undoing the terrible damage of the last four years and restoring environmental protections, sound science, and ethics. As the president’s first executive orders make clear, this administration is making it a Day One priority to:
  • Repair and strengthen our bedrock environmental laws after four years of relentless attacks
  • Protect and defend our cherished public lands and waters, including the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and the Bears Ears, Grand Staircase-Escalante, and Northeast Canyons and Seamounts National Monuments
  • Rejoin the Paris Agreement
  • Cancel the Keystone XL pipeline
  • Revisit dozens of critical public health and environmental safeguards
  • Commit to an all-of-government approach to climate action, sending a strong signal that the administration is ready to provide the climate leadership the world urgently needs
We also applaud the president’s announced actions to reverse inhumane immigration policies, stop construction of the border wall, and strengthen protections for Dreamers and deliver a comprehensive immigration bill to Congress.
Today truly marks a new day in our country. But progress won’t come easy.
At Earthjustice, we believe a better world is possible because we’ve spent decades fighting for it. And we won’t stop now. We look forward to working with the president and his team to build back better by tackling climate change, investing in solutions that address environmental and racial injustice, and providing economic opportunity for all.
Thanks to the extraordinary partnership of supporters like you, together we can build the world we envision and deserve. Until justice stands for all and until we secure a better future for everyone, we will never rest.

.
Thank you for staying in the fight,
