LULAC Asks Acting Director Of U.S. Citizenship And Immigration Services To
Refrain From Appearing Before A Hate Group
==========================================================================
Nation’s Oldest & Largest Latino Civil Rights Organization Say a Government
Official Representing the American People Should Not Endorse White Supremacist
Organizations
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Washington, DC – National President of the League of United Latin American
Citizens (LULAC) Domingo Garcia issued the following statement regarding Acting
Director of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Ken Cuccinelli’s
planned appearance before the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), a known hate
group:
“As our community continues to grieve for those who were killed during the El
Paso shooting— the deadliest mass shooting in the U.S. this year, and the most
heinous hate crime and domestic terrorist act against Latinos in modern history—
we find it reprehensible that Ken Cuccinelli, Acting Director of the U.S.
Citizenship and Immigration Services, will appear before the Center for
Immigration Studies (CIS). This organization is disguised as a Washington ‘think
tank’ but is known as a white supremacist group that perpetuates xenophobic
propaganda, hate, and contributes to violence against our community. We are
respectfully asking Acting Director Cuccinelli to rescind his invitation to this
CIS engagement and any other events associated with this organization.”
