Today's inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris marks a new beginning
for our democracy.

It's also an opportunity for Congress to begin at a new baseline — to stop
spreading the myth of American exceptionalism, to do the hard work
necessary in order to fight back against white supremacy, and to finally
build a government that supports, loves, and reflects its people.

But last night, Tucker Carlson attacked Jamaal for speaking on this
vision, falsely claiming that Jamaal's "irresponsible" remarks targeted
"huge groups of Americans on the basis of their skin color."

It was interesting to see how incensed Carlson was by Jamaal telling the
truth about American society versus how he responded to the violent
insurrection at our Capitol on January 6th, which he shrugged off as a
"protest."

Carlson may not like it, and he can blame progressive lawmakers like
Jamaal all he wants, but there's no denying that we must tell the truth
about who we are as a nation in order to reach our full potential as a
multi-racial democracy.

That includes shedding the myth of American exceptionalism and rooting out
white supremacy in our institutions.
