Team,

Thirty-eight years ago, I came to this country as a teenager because my parents believed so strongly in the promise of America that they sent their daughter across an ocean — despite knowing we may never live on the same continent again.

America, to us, was a place where change and progress were possible. To be blunt, that felt distant at times under the Trump presidency. But today, change and progress are once again within our reach. We've shown the world that our democracy is resilient and that the power always belongs to the people.

As I watched Joe Biden and Kamala Harris take the oath of office, I thought of all the organizers across America who made this historic moment possible. You never gave up, and you never gave in — putting aside cynicism, doubts, and fears to step up, speak out, and organize for a government that works for all of us.

Remember this feeling as you wake up tomorrow because we have a lot of work to do. Our organizing isn't over; in fact, it's all the more important now that we have a Democratic White House. We need to take bigger, bolder steps toward real, transformative change for people across America. We need expansive COVID relief that meets the scale of the crisis. We need to put people back to work, give workers more power, and transition to a clean energy economy.

We need to secure health care for everyone in America. We need to expand voting rights and get money out of politics. We need to dismantle racism and inequality in all institutions — including the creation of a humane and just immigration system. We need to end endless wars and invest in diplomacy. We need to end corporate greed and corporate monopolies.

And we must hold Trump accountable, even as we begin a new era in America.

With a new White House — and now, a new majority in the Senate — we can finally get all of this done if we start building the energy and momentum for it right now. If you're with me, will you rush a contribution of $3 or more to our campaign to help us prove just how strong our people-first movement is?
