Dear John:
I am happy to be writing to you today, on the first day of the new Biden-Harris Administration.
Last November, over 80 million Americans went to the polls and demanded a change - the largest turnout since 1906. In Connecticut and across the country, so many worked so hard for so long to fight for a better and more just nation after four years of division.
This afternoon, because of the hard work of millions, we witnessed history as Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were sworn in as President and Vice President of the United States. Inauguration Day is always a special moment for our country but it takes on new meaning today as our nation is in the grips of a long-running pandemic and Americans are more divided than ever before.
Today is the first step towards a brighter and more optimistic day, one that relies on science not fear, hope and not division. President Biden will have his work cut out for him to be sure, but already he and his team have hit the ground running to tackle all the issues that are coming at us right now.
I’m excited to get to work with the new President to address these challenges and do the hard work needed to get us back on the right path.I hope you will join me in coming together and celebrating this new administration as well as stand with me and the rest of the country as we get ready for the real work to begin.
Sincerely,
|
