"There is always light... if we are brave enough to be it"
Inaugural Poet, Amanda Gorman
Today, we celebrate the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. Democracy prevailed. It is a new and historic day in America.
After four years that began with the phrase 'American carnage', today we were called upon to meet this moment of challenge with greater unity and to 'defend truth, defeat lies, and show a little tolerance and humility'.
Simple words that sound transformational after all that we have been through.
I hope you take some time to reflect on this moment, what we have achieved and the power and resolve it took to make it happen.
We face many challenges in the weeks and months to come. But together I know we are up to the task.
On this first day of the Biden-Harris Administration, will you join me to commit to the critical work ahead to move our country forward, confront hate and division, overcome this pandemic, and advance the dream of justice and opportunity for all?
