** Dear friends,

Today we celebrate the peaceful transfer of power and the official end of the Trump presidency. For our cause, this is a day that simply could not have come soon enough. We pause to remember those whose lives were lost, as well as to acknowledge the tremendous suffering endured by many millions as a result Donald Trump’s divisive, xenophobic, and racist agenda over the past four years. With your support, financial and otherwise, our organization worked to resist Trump’s attacks by providing legal representation to thousands of immigrants and their families. Thank you for standing by us and empowering us to do this work and for your much needed collaboration through these incredibly difficult four years.

The struggle for immigrant justice pre-existed the Trump presidency and it will continue now that this page of history has turned. That being said, the damage and destruction to our immigration system under the Trump administration cannot be over-stated. Now that we are stepping foot to the other side of this especially painful and trying period of our collective story, we turn our eyes to the future, cautiously hopeful for brighter days ahead.

There is much healing to be done and much damage to be reversed. Yet, some of the harm cannot be reversed. We can only move forward. With the arrival of the Biden-Harris administration there is a tremendous amount of work ahead before us. We invite you to continue on this journey with Santa Fe Dreamers Project as we fight for comprehensive immigration reform and justice for those on the border and in detention, and continue to provide top-quality immigration legal services to those who need them most, in an attempt to fulfill our nation’s potential to become a society built on inclusion, equality, opportunity, and justice for all.
