First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. - 1 Timothy 2:1-3

God's instruction for us to pray for our leaders is not limited to those we agree with or voted for; it is for those in positions whose decisions will affect our freedom to lead peaceful and quiet lives (1 Tim. 2:2) and enjoy life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness -- rights endowed to us by our Creator. Today as Joe Biden is sworn into office as the 46th president of the United States, we need to pray. America and the incoming Biden administration desperately need God's guidance. We need to plead His protection over this nation and ask for His wisdom to permeate and direct every decision our new leaders make in the days and weeks ahead.

If you haven't already, I encourage you to join with believers across America in praying through our Prayer for the Nation prayer guide as we pray for the church to be the light of the world and for God's people to stand firm in the power of His might. Please share it with friends and family who are also burdened for our nation.

I hope you will join me in prayer tonight at 8 p.m. ET along with Bishop Vincent Mathews, Jr. of Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, Pastor Gary Hamrick of Cornerstone Chapel, and Pastor Amado Huizar of South Bay Pentecostal Church. You can participate at prayvotestand.org as we go before the Lord in prayer for this nation, our leaders, and the church.

Standing (Eph. 6:13),

Tony Perkins
President
