Dear John,
In the first hours of his presidency, Joe Biden unveiled one of the most ambitious immigration plans in U.S. history. After years of battling Trump’s anti-immigrant agenda in the courts and in the streets, today, a new era of progress and hope for New York’s immigrants has begun.
The President launched his historic plan to restore and expand the rights of immigrants by introducing the U.S. Citizenship Act ([link removed]) , which would extend legal status and citizenship to 11 million of our friends, family, and neighbors. Biden also went further; he announced the repeal of the Muslim Ban, the fortification of DACA, the suspension of border wall construction, and the restoration of protections for Liberians DED.
Providing a path to citizenship for immigrant frontline workers, Dreamers, those with Temporary Protected Status, and millions of families is not only overdue, but is critical to our country’s economic recovery and long term success
Today is only the beginning—and while we embrace a renewed sense of optimism, we know the challenges ahead of us are significant. Which is why we will continue to fight for a broader inclusive agenda in our Freedom Together Campaign ([link removed]) , to ensure that ALL immigrant New Yorkers can survive this pandemic, but also thrive into the future.
We are organized, energized, and ready to rebuild our country and affirm our commitment to fairness, opportunity, and dignity for immigrants, refugees, and all people who call America home. We hope you’ll join us in this effort to make the U.S. Citizenship Act a reality by making a donation, today.
In community,
Murad Awawdeh and Rovika Rajkishun
Interim Co-Executive Directors
