At the stroke of high noon, Joe Biden became our president and Kamala Harris became our vice president.
After four years of Donald Trump's cruel, inhumane, and anti-democratic leadership, the Biden/Harris team will be a breath of fresh air.
Every single person that worked so hard--and I'm including you--to make this day a reality deserves the heartfelt appreciation of our entire nation.
Thank you.
It is not an exaggeration to say that America could not have endured another four years of Donald Trump, another four years of pain caused by his callousness, carelessness, and cruelty.
It is the ultimate testament to our resilience that, given the unprecedented challenges we faced, we nonetheless managed to come together with decency in our hearts to do the work that needed doing.
Our resilience and our resistance must not end here. Together, we must end the pandemic, restore our democracy, reverse the climate crisis, lift up struggling families, ensure racial justice and equity, and make housing, education, and child care affordable.
The problems that brought us to this day will not magically vanish with Donald Trump's departure. They require us coming together as a country and getting to work on solutions.
I look forward to working with you over the coming weeks and months.
Onward!
Jeff
