It was an honor and a great relief today to see Joe Biden inaugurated as our next President.

We have a lot of work in front of us. We need to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic, build back our economy better than before, make health care more affordable, and so much more.

Now, with a President at the helm who prioritizes working Americans and the middle class, we have a real opening to take bold action. I am eager to get to work.

But even though Joe Biden is now sworn into office, we can’t disengage from the political process in this country.

Republicans pulled every dirty trick out of the book to try to prevent President Biden from taking office. And if they had won control of the House of Representatives, they may have succeeded.

That’s why it’s so significant that a Republican has already announced their campaign to challenge me in 2022. My district in Northeastern Pennsylvania is one of only seven Trump districts represented by a Democrat — and if this seat flips red, the whole House will flip with it.
