Today’s a day for celebration—but tomorrow our most urgent challenges will be just as real. Conservatives made unexpected gains in statehouse elections, putting more states in play where laws are passed that restrict access to abortion. And as the disturbing attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6 showed us, right-wing extremists and white supremacists feel emboldened and encouraged by members of the House and Senate still in power.

Some of the most appalling and unconstitutional restrictions are crafted to land before the Supreme Court when they next consider the future of Roe v. Wade. That’s why we must fight back.

As Amy Coney Barrett’s Supreme Court confirmation just showed us, the high court is newly energized to restrict access to all aspects of reproductive health, even during a pandemic.

With a 50-50 tie in the Senate, the opportunity exists for Mitch McConnell to make even more mischief from the minority.

If we want Kamala Harris to be able to preside over the passage of groundbreaking legislation in the Senate, NOW needs to be ready.
