John,
Today, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were sworn in as President and Vice President of the United States.
We can be proud of our role in securing access to the ballot box for the 65 million Americans who cast their vote by mail during the worst public health crisis of our lifetimes.
Whomever we voted for in the election, by working together, we can seize this new political moment to transform the Post Office into the service that our communities deserve.
I’m reminded of the words of the famous abolitionist Frederick Douglass:
“Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will.”
In the months ahead, we will make many demands of the new administration and our Congress. That work starts with the appointment of pro-postal, pro-worker USPS Governors who will help rebuild the service.
I hope you will take a few moments to read why appointing pro-Postal Governors to the USPS Board is so important and sign the petition to help build pressure for action on the new administration.
Between this vital work and the upcoming opening of bargaining for our new contract, there will be much to do.
Let us draw strength from each other and move forward in solidarity.
