For those of us who’ve been engaged in the climate fight over so many years and multiple administrations, this is a unique and important moment.
The American people understand the threat much more clearly and in many cases have suffered devastating personal losses.
Deadly wildfires, drought, heat waves, monster storms, coastal flooding and so much more have brought climate impacts into our communities, into our homes, into our lives. They’ve scarred us and have made us feel vulnerable.
At the same time, we see the promise of clean energy innovation and a growing electric vehicle market. In more and more places across America, solar and wind have become not only the cleanest energy sources, but the most economical.
And while there are still powerful interests aligned against us, growing majorities support national climate action.
This is our time — and with your continued support, we intend to seize it.
It’s a new day. And future generations will applaud us for the progress we will make together.
Thank you,

P.S. We didn’t have to wait for the new administration to be sworn in to celebrate a huge legal victory. Yesterday, the last day of Donald Trump’s presidency, the second highest court in the land struck down one of the most damaging anti-environmental actions of his administration.
A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit vacated the Trump EPA’s repeal and “replacement” of the Clean Power Plan – the historic Obama-era standards that set the first-ever limits for climate change pollution from existing power plants.
Thanks to your support, EDF was part of a broad coalition of 14 health and environmental groups, 23 states and eight cities, nine power companies, and three clean energy associations that filed suit against Trump’s EPA. And the court ruled in our favor, calling their efforts to “slow the process for reduction of emissions... arbitrary and capricious.”
It’s a new day indeed!
