John,
Today, we can finally breathe a collective sigh of relief -- Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were just sworn in as president and vice president of the United States.
Just two weeks ago, our nation was shaken. We lived through a terrifying, vicious attack on our Capitol. It demonstrated just how fragile our democracy can be when those who are trusted to lead it violate their oath. But it also showed the strength and resolve to make our democracy even stronger -- if we recommit to it.
Many have dedicated their careers and even sacrificed their lives so that our country could celebrate the peaceful transition of power. It is no small feat that today, and going forward, we will have an administration that respects the rule of law, our democracy, and the beautiful diversity that stretches all across the country.
But, our celebrations cannot overshadow the enormous challenges that lie ahead of us. COVID-19 continues to devastate our country, the pandemic has exacerbated issues within BIPOC communities, and the American people need relief. The fight to build a more equitable country is coming to a fever pitch, and I can think of no better duo than Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to lead us through this time.
Joe and Kamala's election, although triumphant, was never guaranteed. It is only because of our hard work, dedication, and perseverance, that we are on the cusp of a new future. I'm looking forward to standing beside leaders who are working for all Americans. Share what this new administration means to you and what your hopes are.
