What we've witnessed these past few weeks is not who we are as a country, but it has shown us what can happen when our elected officials choose sides over truth.

I've always believed in a politics that chooses optimism over fear and conversation over corrupted principles. I believe in that now more than ever. And while these past few weeks filled with threats and violence has shaken us, it cannot define us. While we have immense work ahead, I firmly believe brighter days are on the horizon. But brighter days do not happen by themselves. We each have a role to play in the future of this country.

And our job starts today.
