Joe Biden will soon make good on his promise to repeal the ban on day one.

John—

Today, after four years, we can finally breathe a sigh of relief. President Biden was inaugurated on the steps of our Capitol just a few minutes ago. And with the start of this new chapter, NIAC Action is ready to get to work with the Biden-Harris administration to enact change right away. In fact that change is already happening.

Among today's inaugural excitement, Joe Biden will soon make good on a promise he first made to NIAC Action nearly one year ago and terminate Trump’s bigoted Muslim Ban that ripped us from our loved ones, demonized communities of color, and upended countless lives.

Our community, alongside fellow impacted communities and countless unimpacted Americans moved by good conscience, worked hard for this moment.

When Trump first signed the ban into existence, Iranian Americans mobilized like never before, racing to airports across the country and joining protesters and lawyers across the country in defiance of Trump’s bigotry.

We partnered with allies on litigation, and we organized and raised money to defeat lawmakers who defended Trump’s heinous ban and flipped control of the House in 2018.

We pushed the House to hold hearings and helped pass the No Ban Act to set the stage to repeal the shameful policy.

And we activated our collective power heading into this past November to ensure a new President would enter the White House who would make restoring our rights a Day One priority.

We're seeing our power come to life in today's announcement.

But John, we still have much more work to do. 2021 is a big moment for us and we need you by our side to repair the damage Trump and his ban caused over the last four years.

Thankfully, Biden’s Executive Order will direct the State Department to “restore fairness and remedy the harms caused by the bans.” In the coming days, NIAC Action will work with the Biden team to implement the ban's repeal, including by pushing forward the NO BAN act to prevent any future iteration of the ban; by building a pathway that will ensure individuals from affected countries will get visas, even amidst ongoing limitations from COVID-19; by ensuring that visa applicants rejected on the basis of the ban can re-apply; and by advocating that the U.S., at a minimum, restore visa processing back to the levels before the Muslim ban.

The truth is, we have a LOT to do to support the implementation of the repeal and push forward all of our community's priorities, but we couldn't have gotten this far without YOU. Now, with President Biden in office, we have an opportunity to uplift and champion our community's priorities like never before.

So, John will you help us build on this momentum by chipping in to support our 2021 agenda?

With you by our side, we'll be able to organize our resources, mobilize our community, and build on the power we need to create a more just nation and world.

Thank you, John, let’s get to work!
