Hi John,
Despite turmoil and conspiracy, America has once again inaugurated a new President, duly elected and empowered by the American people. We welcome President Biden and Vice President Harris’ administration with great hope and the blessings of a nation eager for new beginnings. Our fates as a people are bound, even if our politics are divided.
This transition has sadly been tainted by an outrageous assault on our nation’s capitol. A mob of domestic terrorists sought to disrupt the peaceful transition of power. They may have broken the peace, but they could not break our democracy.
And so America begins a transition itself, out of the darkness of four years under an aspiring dictator, and into a new era that many of us hope will feel rather more familiar. We cannot, however, allow the doldrums of familiarity to obscure the work that we must do to buttress the institutions of our republic and to propel our nation to a more just and more prosperous future.
President Biden now has the august responsibility of leading this great nation from the Oval Office. Still, our future is not in his hands alone. It rests in our hands. Will we seize this opportunity to change our nation for the better? Or will we let partisanship or disinterest lull us into complacency?
The transition to the Biden Administration is thankfully complete. The transition to a new, brighter America is just beginning, so long as we answer its call together.
