Today is a day for the history books! Not only are we finally closing the
door on the disastrous last four years, but we are also witnessing a set
of momentous firsts: Today, Kamala Harris was sworn in as the first woman,
first Black person, and first person of South Asian descent to serve as
our nation's vice president!

To celebrate the inauguration of the new administration and Vice President
Harris' historic achievement, we've just printed a big batch of "Madam

Vice President Harris was escorted to the inauguration by her alma mater
Howard University's marching band, and she was sworn in by Supreme Court
Justice Sonia Sotomayor, the first Latina to serve on the Supreme Court.

And because of the 50-50 split in the Senate, as Vice President Harris
takes her oath today, she will become one of the most consequential vice
presidents in recent history, responsible for casting the tie-breaking
votes to pass legislation for coronavirus pandemic relief, address the
climate crisis, expand health care, protect voting rights, and more.

After four dark years, and in the shadow of the attempted right-wing coup
perpetrated earlier this month, let today be a joyous reminder of the
victories we can achieve as a multiracial, multi-generational movement for
progress.
