The inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris is the start of our recovery from the reign of terror and lawlessness under Donald Trump. Trump’s disappearance from the stage will not diminish the number of Americans who are willing to sacrifice even their own self-interest and safety to preserve white supremacy. It will not undo the damage done by four years of cruel, vindictive, and ignorant policy-making. The politics of hate and greed remain alive and well.
But now we can hope. We can hope for a President who honors the law and bases decisions on what’s best for the whole country. We can hope for an administration of qualified staffers who will work with a Democratic-controlled Congress to make America more fair and just. We can hope for a government that provides access to health care for all, redresses social and economic inequity, bases foreign policy on cooperation instead of coercion, and fights for our lives by addressing climate change.
In this spirit of renewed hope, Indivisible SF has composed an open letter to President Biden, Vice President Harris, and our Members of Congress that urges them to continue to pursue the ideals of a free and fair democracy for every American.
Read our letter below:
An Open Letter From Indivisible SF
On behalf of our 1000+ members in San Francisco, Indivisible SF wishes to express our appreciation to the Biden-Harris team for their bold legislative proposals to combat the pandemic emergency, and we look forward to the forthcoming economic-relief package. We applaud your decision to issue day-one and week-one executive orders addressing the Covid, economic, climate, and racial-equity crises that grip our nation. And we stand with you as you labor to not only reverse the grave damage done to America and the world by the Trump administration and its Republican sycophants but also to move us forward into the 21st Century.
To our four representatives in Congress, we express our thanks in advance for what we know will be your unwavering support for bold and effective action on the manifold emergencies and crises that must at long last be addressed. We urge you to stand strong, and resist all attempts to water down or obstruct the measures, provisions, and new initiatives that we your constituents so desperately need and desire. And from the deepest depths of our being we demand that you hold fully accountable Trump and all other officials who are guilty of criminal acts so that America once again stands for the fundamental principle that No one is above the law and that wealth and political power do not confer impunity from justice.
And finally, to you who are our incoming hope, we express our deep yearning for a future that is free of the racial and ethnic persecution & scapegoating of the past, a future that provides affordable quality healthcare and education for all, a future in which economic justice and equality of opportunity apply to all strata of society, and a future in which We the People can fully and freely vote and participate in a true democracy for all regardless of race, gender, creed, origin, orientation, or background.
Respectfully
Indivisible SF Steering Committee

Don’t delay - VOTE in the ADEM election!
The ADEM election sets the direction of California’s Democratic Party, and we hope you registered before the deadline earlier this week. Your ballot should be in the mail soon, and just in time, ISF’s voter guides are here.
Once you get your ballot, please fill it out and drop it in the mailbox as soon as possible—ballots must be received by January 27 to be counted. Learn how to fill out your ADEM ballot here.
And it’s time to meet your candidates. We gathered as much information as we could on the slates and candidates for districts covering San Francisco, Oakland, San Mateo, and parts of the Bay Area. Read our candidate guide here.
All this and more is available at https://indivisiblesf.org/vote.
