Hello Friend, “We’ve made it” is an expression many have stated following the end of Donald Trump’s presidency. But it’s important to remember that many people didn’t “make it”: COVID-19 wreaked marginalized communities, immigrant children were put in cages, and death penalties were expedited over the past two weeks. While these past four years were challenging, so will the next four as we work to undo the Trump-Pence Administration’s deadly policies and fight for even better ones. Today, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be inaugurated as the 46th President and Vice President of the United States. After four long years of blatant racism and xenophobia, increasingly violent policing, and an ever-growing wealth gap under the Trump-Pence Administration, it’s a huge relief to see someone else take office. But I’m not going to slow down in the fight for Reproductive Justice, and neither should you. Now is the time to tell the Biden-Harris Administration that we will never settle for the status quo. Now is the time to take advantage of every resource we have and make a stand for Reproductive Justice. — for the social, political, economic power of resources young people is needed to make healthy decisions about our bodies and futures. We now have the leverage we need in the White House, Senate, and House of Representatives to make policies that will tangibly improve people’s lives. URGE is committed to holding the Biden-Harris Administration accountable to do more for young people and to remind them that, without young people, neither of them would be in office. 5) Decriminalize & Create Safe Communities Click here to read URGE’s Young People’s Reproductive Justice Policy Agenda and to learn more about the policies that will change the future for young people across the country.
