John,
Four years ago today, Donald Trump was sworn in as president.
When we shared the below email with Working Families Party supporters on inauguration day 2017, we knew we were in for the fight of our lives.
But on that day and for every day over the last four years, we've shown just how powerful we can be when we come together across our differences to fight for our collective future.
One day after the inauguration four years ago, 5 million of us took to the streets in D.C. and across the country for the Women's March.
Eight days later, thousands of us dropped everything to head to airports nationwide to stand with refugees and immigrants and protest Trump's travel ban.
Six months later, we beat back Trump's attempt to take away healthcare from millions.
Two years later, we took back Congress and elected the Squad and progressive champions nationwide.
And today, Trump departs the White House in disgrace as the first twice-impeached president in history — the same day Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are sworn in and the Senate flips to Democratic control.
Today is a doorway, not a destination. We must tackle the collection of crises Trump has left in his wake, and enact solutions big enough to meet their scale. The multiracial working class that has made Trump a one-term president will demand nothing less.
But let's also take a moment today to reflect on this hard-fought victory, to remember the loved ones we've lost and families whose lives have been changed forever — and then to redouble our commitment to fighting just as hard for the future we all deserve for the next four years and beyond.
Thank you for standing with us, today and every day,
The entire team at WFP

Subject: The Resistance: Day One
Dear Friend,
Donald Trump was just sworn in as president of the United States.
It's hard to predict what’s coming. America is in uncharted waters. But one thing is clear -- we are in for the fight of our lives.
So many Americans are terrified right now. That goes double for the many communities who are now directly under threat from Trump: people of color, women, immigrants, Muslims, the LGBTQ community, and more.
Today, we need to know one thing: can we count on you to stand with us in this fight?
Yes, I pledge to join the resistance and take action to stop Trump and his agenda.
Together, we are going to do every last thing we can to resist all the awful actions Trump wants to take against our country. Because together, we are more powerful than anyone can imagine.
Thank you for standing with us, today and every day,
Amanda Johnson
