Dear Friend,
Today we begin a new era with a new administration. The work to undo the atrocity of family separation, attacks on asylum, and assaults on the rights of immigrant children and families will take time and immense effort. In the past few weeks, the Young Center's policy team has been meeting with members of the Biden-Harris transition team to advocate for policies that will protect the best interests of immigrant children. We have urged them to prioritize: 1) ending the harmful policies that have trapped children in Mexico ([link removed]) or led to the unlawful return of children to their traffickers or persecutors ([link removed]) ; 2) creating procedures for children ([link removed])
to safely and fairly seek protection in the United States; and 3) requiring all federal agencies to consider the best interests ([link removed]) of immigrant children in every decision. We've put together our top priorities for the new administration and look forward to working with them towards achieving these goals.

You can help us advocate for these priorities by sharing them on Twitter and tagging the transition team. Here's a draft Tweet you can use: “The Biden-Harris administration (@Transition46) must prioritize the unique needs of immigrant children. Here are key priorities from @theYoungCenter and 16 other children’s rights organizations. [link removed].”
Thank you for supporting our work,
Jennifer Nagda
Policy Director

The Young Center works with the most vulnerable unaccompanied and separated immigrant children in federal custody, so their voices are heard, and their best interests are protected. We also advocate for an immigration system that treats children as children. To learn more about work, visit ** theyoungcenter.org ([link removed])
